Mimosa hostilis is also known as Mimosa tenuiflora and Jurema Preta in Brazil where this bark is sourced from. All of our Mimosa hostilis (MHRB) comes from a sustainable farm that doesn’t employ pesticides or chemical fertilizers, making it effectively organic. In addition, by buying farm grown Mimosa you avoid potentially contributing to the over-harvesting of wild trees. We regularly test (roughly every 3-6 weeks, depending on shipment frequency) to assure a consistently high-quality product.
Produces a rich, deep pink/purple colour in natural fabrics such as cotton and wool. Can also be used as Wood Dye when mixed with an oil such as linseed or tung.
Note that this root bark is coarsely powdered (finely shredded) which is typically the ideal form to work with (but easy to break down further if desired). Coarsely shredded bark is available too. We also carry shredded bark from Mexico.
Some people prefer the colour profile from bark they’ve powdered themselves, we encourage you to try both and see what works best for you.
